Why Global Women Power Supports Empowerment?

Empowerment is the act of improving women’s lives by imparting education, awareness, and providing them with vocational training. We at GWP aim to create Women leaders and business owners who will not only support their own family but can help change the economy for the better. Women are the caregivers of the household and often the first teachers. An empowered woman can raise educated and well-informed children. Since children are the future of the world, all seek to benefit from the empowerment of this gender. That is why we at Global Women Power drive our resources to help find women empowerment, education, and enhancement. With the help of your generous donations and selfless volunteering work, we can achieve global empowerment that will change lives. We offer career-oriented training, coaching and lifelong partnership. The end result is a network of financially independent women who are visionary leaders ready to make social change, transforming the lives of women, girls, and their communities all around the globe. Global Women Power is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization from Fremont, California. Donors can deduct contributions made to Global Women Power under IRC section 170.

Empowering yourself

Women empowerment is a much-debated topic worldwide today. Women have fought a long and hard battle for equal rights, right to education and right to employment. Even though gender discrimination has not yet been fully addressed, we have come a long way from being mere caregivers. A woman’s life is no longer confined to the kitchen but if she so chooses she can rule the boardroom as well. Mothers are our primary caregivers and are often underestimated and undervalued. But once she learns to stand up for herself no one can make her feel less than any man worth his salt. The only limits we have are the ones we build up in our minds. Life will go in the direction we want it to go. Our own thoughts are the ship we must learn to navigate. To empower yourself first believe in your worth. Your gender is not your weakness and must not define what you are capable of. There are Women in the army much more formidable than their male counterparts. There are women CEO’s that have propelled their companies to greatness. We are living in liberated times and it is imperative that we change our own beliefs to overcome discrimination. If you can bleed every month, carry another life in your womb for nine months and give birth you can surely educate yourself and work for an independent life. How difficult it must be when men can do it, you can do it better.

Empowered?

There is so much talk about being strong, independent, educated and liberal today. Women have burst into the scene like never before, trying to change norms and break cultural barriers. Yet how many of us feel empowered? Social media dictates how we must perceive ourselves and others. Big companies want us to buy into their notion of beauty and how we must look and behave. Beautiful women get more likes, and then they are belittled for exposing themselves on social platforms. Why this condescending attitude towards women? More often than not it is other women who throw dirt on each other. We must stand together; we must be the ones to decide what we wear, where we work and whatever else we want to do. As long as we love ourselves no one has the power to take from us. Teach your daughters the importance of education, teach her that her body is hers alone, stop telling her that she can’t do this or that because of her gender, stop telling your sons to man up, to not cry and talk about their feelings. The only rules we must abide by are the laws of humanity, do no harm to others and live a life of passion and love.

Giving it Back to Community!

At Global Women Power we have started our project for teaching Senior Citizens, the basic computer skills for Free. As we felt teaching Senior Citizens is giving back to the community on our part. We are teaching Senior citizens, who are retired, have time on their hand, and cannot catch up with the advancement of the technology world around them. As often told to us -They feel incompetent and at times overwhelmed by not being part of the world. And some on the other hand need to look for work but cannot find suitable jobs, or they are missing on opportunities which require basic computer skills. The lack of skills have become a barrier for their communication with their loved ones, distances are created in their hearts besides being miles apart. Children, grandchildren and even some peers could play and operate electronic devices at their fingertips. We are welcoming Senior Citizen students with open arms from all walks of life and cultures. So far we have 17 students, most of them have graduated with new skills for life and with a better understanding of the technology. Senior students have to be taught very patiently and using more visually and practically step by step. While teaching seniors, one has to use different teaching tools like repetition and visual presentations as a learning tool. “Below is my experience with my first senior citizen student” A TRAINERS TALE: I had my first Senior Citizen student class today. My student was so excited and happy to learn the different functions of Google drive. And I am so happy that I added value to his life and happiness. He was happy, enthusiastic, and felt satisfied. I was reminded of my father. At the age of 70 years, he also went to computer school with great enthusiasm to learn basics of computers. Going to the school was the highlight of his life then. Nothing would stop him from going to school. He always looked forward to his class. He used to get very disappointed when the tutor cancelled the class. I see that same enthusiasm in my Senior Citizen students today. It’s such a humbling experience. Senior Citizens lives are full of rich life experiences. They know so many skills and they are good are at so many things, they just need to be reminded about it, whenever they feel they are lacking some technical skills. My students refused to believe me when I said I was also learning some new things/ skills with them. It must be so frustrating to see their young grandchildren do things with the computers and other electronic devices / gadgets with much ease. It is indeed a very humbling moment for the seniors. Often the kids and grandchildren do not have the patience or even the time to spend with seniors to teach them basic technical skills. I am so glad to be able to teach seniors and I feel so devoid of words to describe my feelings. Serves a very big part of my life goals – giving back to the community. I have had many wonderful encounters with my senior students. I learnt along the way too, many skills and mainly about life from them.

Gratitude – The Best Therapy!

Outflow gratitude, it heals, fulfills, and energizes. Many researches are being done to prove the point. You do your own research and find out if it works? If it does then insist on others to follow this too. One man can ignite the chain of gratitude and be that one man. Start chains of people habitually expressing gratitude in whole or in part to where it belongs. There is a science behind it and it was known to our ancestors intuitively. Passing on the power to another source and remaining free from the evils of ego were the basics taught to one and all. Gratitude takes off the air and one remains grounded. It is pertinent that one remains grounded to expand. Deeper the roots higher one goes. Observing gratitude is simple and easy. Always look for good, look for good in bad, and never hesitate to welcome the good. Once you receive the good then pass it on to further the cause of goodness. Look for those people who you missed on expressing the gratitude, make a list of them and start today.
